Reflections on Sermon: Christian's To-Do List part2

So here i am, gonna review this sunday's sermon. I think i wanna make this a permanent thing on my blog. Where i write about what i learnt or felt from the sunday sermon. Helps me also be accountable to all of you that i listened during sermon. Sermon: A Christian's "To Do" List - Part 2
Scripture: Romans 12:11-13
Speaker: Preacher Leonard Chong

Today Leonard expounded on the 2nd message in the series of a Christian's to do list. it was helpful and though i felt it was a bit unbalanced [he spent little time on point 6. and 7. but expounded a lot on point 8.] it was still quite interesting to hear what he had to say bout the points.

To do List number
6. Serve the Lord with diligence and enthusiasm
This was mainly about how we must be sincere, passionate and we must have Spiritual Ferver for Christ and ministry. Ferver in greek is BOILING. So it has that imagery of how our passion and love for the work is bubbling and not stagnant 'mosquito breeding' water. So we must check out attitude and see whether it's right. Whatever ministry we may be in, forefront or not, we must always be on fire for Him and be always trying to do our best for God.

7. Trust and depend on God in difficult times
Don't be lost in emotional highs that you lose focus on God. Like how vibrant worship can sometimes make the focus lost from God to the music or musicians sometimes. We must recognize that God is in control and that He can help you through the difficult time. Doubting God's power is the first step to not allowing Him to take control or change things. A Christian should always trust in God... especially during hard times. It's those times that really test to see if your faith is built on rock or sand.

8. Give to Christians in need
People will know that we are Christians by our love. Some aren't technically in need [monetary] but are spendthrifts or just lazy to find work or get off their butts. Those are the ones that you should be more careful with. They could be just disobedient to God or just searching for personal enjoyment without thinking long term. To enjoy the present and the now. Our attitude should be checked such that we are not giving to those in need just because we are asked to, but because we WANT to and feel the need to.
